We are sad to report that we discovered this morning that all of our chickens had been killed by predators (raccoons, we think). They ripped the chicken wire apart in the night roosting pen within the larger chicken pen. We will be building a bigger and better pen with the lessons learned, and hope to have some chickens again soon. We thank the chickens for all the enjoyment and the good eggs they provided us!

AM Snack: organic apples, water (Summer Camp and PreK used the rotary cutter to cut their apples)
Lunch: organic chicken salad, homemade wheat bread with organic butter, organic carrot sticks, organic milk
PM Snack: grapes, water

Classroom Highlights:

Infants: Our new friend, Porter, is enjoying the sights and sounds of the farm school. Tummy time was fun for Porter and Addison. Emma Grace is really moving around teh room--crawling will come soon. Gage insisted on wearing his new tennis shoes while crawling around chasing a soft soccer ball. Gage played with bread dough in the high chair.

Toddlers: The toddler class explored textures by playing with bread dough today. The class loved lots of outside time with Ellen, and they were very glad to see her return from a month long break. It was also fun to see Vivian back. After a big lunch, all of the children were ready for a good nap and settled in quickly.

Twos: The class enjoyed watching the road work outside. They sang "The ABC Song" and talked about the letters of our names. The children drew with chalk on paper and everyone enjoyed making bread, and eating it, of course!

PreK: The started the day with farm chores. They enjoyed the class Who Wakes up Rooster?. As your child who it was that woke up rooster! The children took turns making bread today, and they all loved eating it at lunch!

Summer Camp: The class are starting to get a little antsy as the start of the public school year approaches--after many weeks of lots of fun, they are starting to get a little tired and bored now and then, ready for their next adventure in their new grade! This morning, they helped mix bread dough and shape it. They played Jr. Scrabble and a family pretend scenario throughout the morning. In the afternoon, they played volleyball and built fairy houses ("a fairy town") outside on the front lawn. They childen enjoyed working with stamp pads and stamps while they ate their afternoon snack. Before leaving, they did the evening farm chores.
