“Kittens” from Hand Rhymes by Marc Brown

hold up fingers each time a number is used . . .

(hold up fingers to indicate 5) Five little kittens
(hands together at side of head, eyes closed) Sleeping on a chair
(rolling motion with hands) One rolled off,
(hold up fingers to indicate 4) Leaving four there.
Four little kittens,
(Climbing motion up, hand over hand) One climbed a tree
(OK signs around eyes to make glasses) To look in a bird’s nest.
Then there were three.
Three little kittens
Wondered what to do.
(Hands beside face, “ahh” gesture) One saw a mouse.
Then there were two.
Two little kittens
Playing near a wall.

One little kitten
(make a circle with with two hands) Chased a red ball.
One little kitten

With fur soft as silk,
Left all alone
(like lips as if to say “delicious”) To drink a dish of milk.

School Announcements:
Thanks to Eve Merrill for coming in last week and crafting hand puppets with the PreK children. Thanks to Miles for his craft design. Also, thanks to the Merrills for sharing special cookies with us at snack time on Monday!

Thanks to Melanie Ellis for the recyled Smart Water bottles. Caprice and Janie used them to make sensory bottles for the infant, toddlers, and twos classes. Caprice even fashioned a magical treasure chest and pirate ship for the chidlren at school--amazing.

Thanks to Sarah Justice for straightening the sticks on our "treehouse" when she thought no one was looking.

Thanks to everyone for great kids, great referrals, great support and patience!

Mark your calendars for the Evening of Indulgence Friday, April 3 from 6:30-8:30. Expect lots of great massage, hair cuts/texturizing/scalp massage, and brow waxing! Services are priced at $15 for one service, $25 for two, and $35 for three. Bring a friend and receive an additional service free. Wine and appetizers always provided--RSVP now!

This week has been one of technical difficulties--with our blog, camera, internet, and even phone service! We are back "up" in all regards, so we wanted to show you what we've been up to this week . . .

Highlights from the Infant/Toddler Room:
Luke and Jack crash after a busy morning.
Gage likes the new rocking chair from Cole's family.

Highlights from the Twos Room:
Sure, our camera isn't the greatest. But note that pictures from the Twos Room are blurry because they are always on the move! Painting was so much fun we did it two times this week. Gavin . . .

Kai. . .

Washing hands. Christin asks the kids if they want to do "bubbles".

Waylon . . .

Kaleb . . .
Waylon and Kai after nap. Kai loves books, and Waylon found a big airplane from the PreK next door. This week the class enjoyed Brown Bear and Polar Bear by Eric Carle. They talked about colors.

Highlights from the PreK:

Making monkey bread on Wednesday. First, roll dough into balls.

Then top with cinnamon, sugar, and butter.

Our tale this week was Rapunzel. We read the story without pictures, read it with pictures, acted it out, and told it orally, with the help of the children, over the course of the week. Here, Iris-Rapunzel is letting down her yellow hair from her silken tower. Catherine is starring as the evil witch . . . Michelle helped the children crush egg shells and dye them last week. This week she helped them make an eggshell collage.

Michelle's class has enjoyed having a queen or king for the day. They wear a special pasta adorned crown! At Community Time and at the writing table, we began working with letters that have round components . . . B, C, D, G, O, P, Q. Michelle helped the children decorate some of the letters with objects around school that start with the letter. B got some beans, C got some Cheerios, and P got some pasta.

We practiced moving stones with bamboo tongs this week.

School Announcements:
Don't miss the Evening of Indulgence tomorrow evening! It's an inexpensive way to relax and a great way to start the weekend. Enjoy a glass of wine and appetizers while receiving services from 6:30-8:30. Our EOIs [as we refer to them] occur the first Friday of every month. Our next EOI will take place on Friday, April 3.

Wow! What a beautiful day at the farm! We enjoyed the wonderful weather and the fresh breeze that swept through the backyard. Everyone spent some much needed time outside today, including the infants. It's so important for our little ones to have interaction with the older children. Enjoy viewing the outdoor interactions of our kiddos. What a lovely morning!
