Wednesday, September 3

Wow....another week is flying by! We wanted to let everyone know that we've made progress on the farm school. It's a great feeling to be on-site working and have something to show for all the hard work! We spent the greater part of the weekend working at the farm preparing it for painting [in progress thanks to Mr. Jamie] as well as some reconstruction of classroom areas [Colton's Papa is the grand designer]. We're a little sore and tired, but feel great that things are being accomplished. We're excited to welcome everyone to the open houses on September 13 and 20!

The permit process is moving along as the design for the septic system has been turned in to the county and we're now awaiting their approval to install. This process is frustrating as it's out of our control but we are positive that all will work out in the time frame that we have outlined.

We are getting ready to transition some of the animals over to the farm. We have two new dwarf bunnies to add to the family--Pumba and Timone. They come to us from a family setting where they had a lot of exposure to the family's children and are quite loving and calm. The children had an opportunity to pet one of the bunnies this morning during their outside play time. Needless to say, they are very excited! Lucy will hopefully transition to the farm next week along with the bunnies as Mr. Jamie will prepare Lucy's house for her and make sure all is well for her to move.
On to today....

Community: all about rabbits.....read Dwarf Rabbits to familiarize the children with our new friends, Timone & Pumba, circle songs, learned the names of vegetables in Spanish [lettuce, carrots, cucumbers]

Outside: the children enjoyed observing the rabbits in their house, cooked in the outdoor kitchen, train rides in the wagons, dump trucks
Fine Motor: the children worked on connecting the alphabet train, buttoning, snapping and buckling, stacking blocks, drawing with beeswax crayons

Indoor play: The children enjoyed the treasure box of dress up clothes along with cooking at the play kitchen and caring for the baby dolls--diapering, dressing and feeding, built a train and race track, built a tent using silks, wooden clips and play stands
Cooking: Gigi and Nina helped whip up our delicious broccoli cheddar quiche "muffins", the children assisted with setting the table and serving their friends

Breakfast: corn flakes, organic milk, tropical fruit salad
Lunch: broccoli cheddar quiche "muffins", organic milk, applesauce with cinnamon, crackers
Snack: whole grain crackers, cheddar cheese cubes, water
