Thursday, September 4

The children enjoyed a brisk [for Texas] morning air this morning. What a welcome change to the oppressive heat we've experienced as of late. Fall may be right around the corner......
On to today-
Community: Circle songs, each child performed his or her favorite song for the group [we have a lot of great singers!], discussed different types of farm animals and their adult/baby names--mare/foal, ewe/lamb, hen/chick, etc. We also discussed the different types of foods that animals eat and learned the names of the foods in Spanish.
Outside: The children spent time observing the bunnies in their hutch, dug for buried treasure, ran, jumped and enjoyed the unexpected cool air this morning.
Cooking: Soleil and Catherine helped mix up our mixed berry pancakes, Jordan and Landon assisted with preparing the chicken salad sandwiches and the vegetables for lunch, Mattvey set the table for lunch and the children served each other

Fine Motor: The children worked out their fingers this morning by tearing up their pancakes into bite-size pieces prior to eating, folding nap blankets
Indoor Play: Treasure chest of dress up clothes, building shelters with silks, clips and stands, cooking at the play kitchen, taking care of the babydolls, building with blocks
Breakfast: mixed berry pancakes, organic milk
Lunch: homemade chicken salad sandwiches on whole wheat, organic milk, organic orange wedges, cucumber slices and carrot sticks
Snack: make-your-own vanilla pudding with organic milk, raisins and water
