Our internet access at farm school has been down since last week, and before that we were tired or otherwise occupied with Thanksgiving and personal affairs, so we apologize for it being so long between blog posts. . .

This month is probably the best example of how our school curriculum differs from most schools--we focus on the environment and seasons rather than holidays. There is considerable diversity in our school population, and we honor the beliefs of all our families by teaching the children that kindness to our friends/family, our environment, and ourselves is most important . Last week we talked about love and this week we are talking about evergreens.

Today, the weather was super-warm, and the PreK took advantage of this opportunity to take a big farm walk. We visited the back of our property--"the forest". The land on the farm slopes downward, so there was a temporary creek 3-5 feet wide, and much of the land was marshy! (It sucked some of our boots off!)

Farm kids don't take much to be happy--how about a round bale rack and some hay? Perfect for climbing and jumping . . .

Peachy and Aurora, our loyal cats, always accompany us on walks, much to the children's delight!
Boots were a must today, and many friends held hands . . .
Waylon needed some help crossing the "creek" . . .
And Gabrielle . . .
We explored the "forest"--is this where fairies live? How about the elves from last week's story "The Elves and the Shoemaker"?

Kari found a tree--did Indians push it down to point toward water as the tree in our school yard is?

It was nice and dry under the big tree in the field--we gathered there for a short break before heading back to farm school!
