School Announcements: We're too tired for words today, but we have a lot of pictures to share! Everyone except the infant room enjoyed baking bread. The infants had fun dropping stones into water and listening to the sound it made (while listening to the sounds of waterfalls and ocean waves). The toddler class enjoyed outside time and baking bread, and the twos class enjoyed working with Christin, baking bread, and Legos. We all spent time with the animals, and PreK enjoyed buiding with Legos and Kid Kinex. PreK also crushed egg shells with Michelle and dyed them with food coloring for tomorrow's collage project.

AM Snack: cheerios cereal, organic milk
Lunch: tomato soup, multigrain crackers, colby jack cheese cubes, organic milk

School Announcements: Start this weekend off right with a couple of relaxing services at the Evening of Indulgence. Enjoy a glass of wine and appetizers while receiving services from 6:30-8:30.

Thank you to Cole and his family for donating his baby rocking chair. The infants loved it today!

Thank you to Ali's family for sharing some veggies with the animals today!

Highlights from the Infant/Toddler Area: Caprice did sensory bags with the infants and they enjoyed lots of books! Caprice also sang more "campfire songs" to the children! The little guys enjoyed the new donated rocking chair from Cole. The toddler class liked hearing Brown Bear, Brown Bear What do you See?. The class also experimented with different smells in canisters. They loved seeing the animals outside!

Highlights from the Twos Room:The boys enjoyed painting with green today. "Good Morning, Good Morning" song was sung along with ABCs, "I Had A Little Turtle", we read the ever-popular Five Little Monkeys and counted one to five using our fingers. A walk to see the animals along with some much needed outside play rounded out the morning. The PreK class visited and performed the "Hambone" and "Head and Shoulders" rhyme this morning. The "big kids" are very popular with the Twos class.

Highlights from the PreK:
Leslie's Class: Today we worked with beeswax during community time. We read One Magical Day and Going to Sleep on the Farm. We like looking at the illustrations on the inside of the front and back covers in each book, as the front represents morning and the back evening. We found similarities in the way our school farm looks when we arrive and when we leave. Beeswax crayons were available for writing "mountain letters" and more. We slipped across the hall to peform our two rhymes: "Hambone" and "Head and Shoulders" for the Twos class. They loved it, and we joined hands and took a bow. Play inside included Matt and Saxon building and extensive structures with a building set, which they saved for more play this afternoon. Other friends enjoyed working at the writing table, playing baby dog, and cooking dominoes. This afternoon we will work with the balance beam and water the plant starts in the greenhouse. Check out how much we have recycled over the last week!
Michelle's Class: We listened to a fairy tale CD and enjoyed hearing familiar rhymes such as "Hansel and Gretel", "Sleeping Beauty", "The Three Little Pigs" and more. We enjoyed "The Farmer in the Dell" during Community Time and introduced a new calendar in this area. We counted days and talked about Leilani's birthday tomorrow. Some friends began crafting a crown to use as the king or queen for the day.
AM Snack: bagels with cream cheese, water
Lunch: organic macaroni and cheese with seasoned ground turkey, organic green beans, organic milk
PM Snack: organic apple cider, apple-cinnamon rice cakes

Thank you for all of the great referrals! A reminder that any client who refers another family receives a $50 tuition credit.

Thanks to Stacy Wooster for donating the cantaloupe seeds and time working on craft projects with the children.

Thanks to Sarah Ballard for donating a copy of Orion's favorite, Goodnight, Gorilla as well as a Haba baby toy.

Thanks to Nancy and Lee Rice (Leslie and Janie's mom and dad) for donating a ton of seeds, soil, and starter trays. Did you know that our parents never stop supporting our efforts (and now our kids)? Thanks, mom and dad, for all that you do!

Highlights from the Infant/Toddler Area:
Gage, Ali, and Emma enjoyed hearing Caprice sing campfire songs. Emma sat in the Bumbo for the first time for about five minutes. Caprice read an ABC book to the children. In the Toddler area, the children are getting to know Christin. The kids enjoyed a walk to see the animals, and always enjoy looking at books.
Luke loves to watch Abby!

Maya and Jack try to smile for the camera, but the sun is in their little eyes. Jack's big sister Catherine caught a ride with this duo when her legs got tired.

Highlights from the Twos Room: Welcome back, Waylon and your boots. We missed you and we're glad you're feeling better! Today the class read Five Little Monkeys Jumping on the Bed and We're Going Bear Hunting. They sang their ABCs, Mason's favorite "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star" and learned the hand motions to "I Had a Little Turtle . . .". The children built structures with Duplo blocks, played dress up with capes and hard hats, and tossed bean bags. This afternoon the class will have a picnic snack, fingerpaint, and visit the animals.

Lena enjoyed the Duplo blocks and the farm puzzle. Mason clapped his hands in excitement while dancing to music. Kai loved the new turtle song. Maksim was a great helper--he loved cleaning up and putting blocks away. Gavin enjoyed the monkey book and laughed when Janie bumped her head during story time. Waylon had a great time dancing to music and being with his friends after almost a week! Gabrielle recited the story Five Little Monkeys Jumping on the Bed as Janie read it.

Highlights from the PreK: Today during morning outside time we planted more cantaloupe, tomato, and wheatgrass starts. We took all of the plant starts to the greenhouse, and we realized how hot the greenhouse can be even on a chilly day. The cats followed us in the greenhouse, and soon they were clammering to get out of the heat, too! We watered the morning glory seeds that we planted last week and walked the labyrinth. We have been walking things out to the recycling boxes and the children are surprised at how much recycling can be done right here at school. In just one week, we have kept four giant boxes of material our of the landfill! Many children really experimented with hummus today at lunch and many discovered they liked to dip their sandwiches in the spread as well as their carrots. This afternoon we will do wet on wet painting.

Friday Pics

Friday morning was balmy, and we started out the day by saying "good morning" to the animals and preparing their food.

While we were feeding, a new rabbit was donated by Jenny, a friend of Noah and Vivian! He is as cute as can be, and his name is "Mocha" like one of our old rabbits. We took the wagon out into the parking lot to load him up! Very exciting . . . thank you Jenny and family.

To say that the toddlers at our school love the animals is an understatment!
Caprice loaded up the "Bumbo wagon" and away Ali, Alex, and Gage went!
Austin enjoyed pretending that a hanging hose was a gas hose to fill up his bike.
Matt is practicing dipping his partner Iris at the end of "Oats, Peas, Beans, and Barley Grow".
Miles and Noah are having fun dancing and singing, too!
Kai and Maksim, as cute as can be.

Naptime is welcome after a busy morning, and a busy week.
Afternoon snack with friends . . . Colton and Saxon love their boots!
Little Jonie found the biggest chair.
And so the day ends the way it began, with all of the animals enjoying a meal after making so many children happy all day . . .
