Whew! Sorry to have been away from the blog so much last week--our first operational week at the farm school. Things are smoothing out, and the kids are having so much fun. It is such a delight to see the children taking in so much that the natural setting of our new location provides: interaction with farm animals, great play under our beautiful big trees, gardening and projects on the farm.

We have been without internet service, so we will post our daily blog sometime in the afternoon or early evening! We promise pictures, too!

The 2s class and the Treehouse PreK class have enjoyed learning the following rhyme:

Way up high in the apple tree,

Two red apples looked down on me,

Shook that tree as hard as I could,

Down fell the apples,

Mmmm, they were good!

The PreK class has enjoyed hearing a wonderful story about Grandmother Wind, leaf children, Father Winter, and Silvia squirrel. Please ask them to retell the story in their own words as an explanation for fall turning to winter.

Today in the PreK class:

Community: apple rhyme, the story of Grandmother Wind, PreK enjoyed reading Jack and the Beanstalk

Fine Motor: scooping beans or glass marbles, pouring water between small glass pitchers, string small beads on pipe cleaners

Outside: enjoyed visiting and feeding the farm animals, worked with Mr. Jamie to build a stacked rock wall in our garden, playing tag, pulling our young toddler friends in wagons, building a train with child-size lawn chairs over our balance beam

Cooking: served friends, set the table, meal clean-up

Pretend: playing dog and prince/princess with dress up clothes, silks and clips; playing with the dollhouse and stable
