School Announcements:
Please remember that children must be fever-free to attend school, even if teething, allergies, or viruses are the culprit. Any licensed program must abide by the same rules, and we are unable to make exceptions for families on a case by case basis. Also remember that we are a medicine-free and remedy-free school. Starting Monday, February 16, we will be strictly enforcing our original health policy as stated in our family handbook. As parents ourselves, we understand that missing work or appointments is difficult when you have a sick child, however, the rules we must follow are in place to ensure that children who at school are healthy and ready to learn.
4/1/09 School Hours will change to 7:00-5:30 PM instead of a 5:45 PM close.
Highlights from the Infant Room: The infants enjoyed an hour long walk today! They walked through the pasture while the animals were still penned. They visited each animal, and even got to hold one of the kittens. Spencer the sheep walked along side us on the other side of the fence. We got to sit on a blanket outside with the older children and read three books, including Chicka Chicka Boom Boom; Bones, Bones, Dinosaur Bones; and Time for Bed.
Highlights from the Toddler Room: The toddlers enjoyed a wagon ride to see the animals and had an up-close visit with Queso. Orion selected several books to read aloud and brought them to Janie saying "book". Jack is pointing to objects and saying "da". We had a quiet, fun day!
Highlights from the Twos Room: The children were very excited to get outside first thing this morning! They missed seeing the animals up close yesterday. A new favorite in the class is holding hands and singing "Ring Around the Rosie"--especially Kai! The children worked on puzzles and building with Legos. We pick up our own nap mats and blankets now!
Highlights from the PreK: We started our day by putting on our boots and heading outside for play on the play yard and a farm walk. We walked around and said "good morning" to all of the animals, then found 109 golf balls in the field! It was a grand adventure.
Leslie's class: Inside, we read If You Give a Moose a Muffin and Have You Seen My Duckling?. We said our beeswax rhyme and held our beeswax to soften it as we retold the story of "Hop 'O My Thumb". We then shaped our beeswax to look like snails, pancakes, a giant's boots, and more. Play inside included constructing extensive play areas with train tracks, cars/trucks, snap together village pieces, and animals figures. Pretend play included turning the play stands over to make to build a rocket ship, and playing "house", wearing aprons and taking care of children. We spent time drawing with beeswax crayons, practicing our mountain letters.
Michelle's class: Today, in addition to reading "Hop 'O My Thumb"and doing beeswax, the class enjoyed experimenting with wet on wet painting. The class really needed to move, so they had a great period of play time outside before lunch, complete with butterfly wings!
